FAST ALPINE TECHNICAL SLEEPING BAG

Weight is everything for a summer alpinist and the pursuit demands a bag that is as light as possible without compromising the critical features required for long ascents at the limit of endurance. The Direct Ascent sleeping bag is equipped with a technical mountain hood, designed to allow a snug fit that moves with the head both when lying down and sitting upright. Its ergonomic body shape reduces cold spots and helps deliver more a comfortable sleep, while the technically engineered foot box has the space to allow both a relaxed foot position and extra layers of tent footwear. The super light PERTEX® Quantum outer shell provides windproof and breathable protection for the down, while its renowned durable water repellency helps shed any tent condensation.

FABRICATION

• Shell fabric is PERTEX^® Quantum that is exceptionally lightweight, breathable and features a durable water repellency
• PEAQ Down liner that is comfortable next to the skin, highly breathable and fast drying
• Exceptionally high quality goose down with 800+ fill power

ZIP

• ¾ length YKK VISLON^® zip that is angled away from the shoulder to prevent body contact whilst user is sleeping on side and to allow easier access from inside
• Fine microfleece facings and roll over Velcro closure flap at top of YKK zip for extra comfort
• Two way YKK VISLON^® zip for lower access or ventilation whilst zip is drawn up
• Sleeping bag zip opens fully at bottom to completely open sleeping bag to aid airing and drying
• Locking zip heads to avoid unexpected zip opening
• Glow in the dark zip pulls for easier night time location without head torch
• Two double 3-D volume baffles behind YKK zip that extend past zip end for draught proofing

CONSTRUCTION

• Outer and inner anatomically designed shape tapers around lower legs and curves around shoulders to reduce cold spots
• Bag has 3-D construction with side walls to allow comfortable sleeping on side
• Trapezoidal vertical baffles across chest and around sleeping bag prevent cold spots and down migration to extremities of body
• Horizontal baffles around lower legs and feet help hold the down in correct location
• Flipper foot box allows for natural foot position whilst lying on back and more room for thick socks, tent slippers or inner boots
• Flipper foot box shape begins in lower leg area and tapers from knees to ankles reducing the amount of cold spots

NECK BAFFLE

• 3-D shaped neck baffle features Velcro closure at either end and is ergonomically shaped to encase the whole circumference of the neck
• Split drawcord arrangement in baffle enables further adjustment and pulls insulation closer to front or rear of neck
• Baffle can be split by Velcro and can fold down whilst in upright sitting position

UPPER BAG

• 3-D shaped hood design based on years of MONTANE^® clothing construction experience, in particular the award-winning technical mountaineering jacket hood design
• Hood shaping to prevent down migration and to limit cold spots
• Peak visor on hood for improved weather resistance and prevention of weather entry into bag whilst bivvying. Peak helps stop condensation entering bag from inner tent or on contact with bivvy bag. Also helps shield light whilst sleeping in high Arctic / Antarctic summer conditions
• Rear crown elastication reduces volume around hood which increases thermal efficiency, decreasing the need to wear a hat; ideal for use whilst in sitting position. Elastication also helps hood to move with the head whilst sleeping
• Split, colour coded face drawcords to control and adjust volume individually around upper and lower face. Drawcords easily accessed from inside the sleeping bag
• Soft brushed microfleece inner next to chin and mouth area
• Lower face baffle and upper hood baffle arrangement is 3-D construction to ensure down volume around lower face drawcord area can loft easily

• Underside of sleeping bag features non-slip silicone MONTANE^® roundels to help grip sleeping mat or bivvy bag
• Foot box hang loops for storage and drying
• Internal stretch mesh water bottle pocket on right hand side
• Internal pocket on left hand side with concealed YKK zip for storage of MP3, mobile phone, GPS etc.
• Includes MONTANE^® cotton storage bag and dry bag
• Dry bag doubles as a pillow whilst stuffed with clothing and features a non-slip silicone roundel for extra grip. Features a pull handle at base
• Dry bag shape differs from traditional tub stuff sacs; constructed with a packable shape and to fit more easily in pack base compartments
